EVERYONE IS CREATIVE – HERE’S YOUR PASSPORT!

Setting yourself up for creative success means leveraging automatic and semi-automatic systems in our brain to perform the right behaviors to help us be as creative and fulfill our creative endeavors. You can't necessarily control your subconscious very well, but you can sort of nudge it.
Intentions are a way of nudging it in a direction you want to go. Intentions are a way to prime the brain and give it context so that you think more creatively and in the directions you want. They’re kind of like setting a computer program for your subconscious – albeit an indirect one.

Intentions are kind of like the purpose or the reason why you do something. It’s like establishing the criteria or values that you want to spend your mental energy on. For example, in the book Pre-suasion by Robert Cialdini, he talks about a study that showed that when customers went to a website, if they saw clouds, they focused more on comfort, but if they saw an image of money, they focused more on price. Imagine what you can do when you give yourself the context of what to think about. That’s what intentions are all about.
