The GEM (Gas Energy Mixing) System by CWT is the latest advancement in solids / liquid separation technology. The GEM system is similar to DAF in that it floats the solids to be removed by a skimmer.

The big difference is that 100% of the water that flows into the GEM system first passes through patented mixing heads, where polymer and pressurized air are introduced to the liquid and mixed in a hydrocyclone. The introduction of pressurized air causes floc seeding on the micro-bubbles before the flow even reaches the tank. The flow is depressurized in the bloom chamber, where the micro-bubbles covered in polymer and solids suddenly expand and rise to the surface. Excellent removal of TSS, FOG, COD and BOD.

The GEM System gives a far higher performance efficiency in a smaller footprint than a standard DAF, which recirculates water with dissolved air and relies on collision and attraction of the air and the solids.
