Homemade Golden Syrup

I've been using golden syrup quite a lot in my recipes lately, and I've had quite a few people asking what to use as a substitute for golden syrup. Apparently the closest substitute is a mix of dark and light corn syrup, but it doesn't really taste the same. But you don't have to use a substitute for golden syrup - it's very easy to make your own.

I've used golden syrup in honeycomb, treacle tart, Hobnob oat biscuits, British flapjacks
