Recently I took three days of studying and decided to visit Paris, probably the city that I hated on the most during my time on Instagram.

I went to Paris, mainly because it’s the last year that I am under 26. I am 25 now and if you’re under 26 and from the European Union you can visit most of the museums and famous sites in Paris for free! So, being Dutch, I couldn’t pass on that opportunity.

The place I wanted to visit the most was L’Hôtel des Invalides, the tomb of my favorite historical figure ever, Napoleon Bonaparte.

I also went to the Mussée d’Orsay and the Louvre, but visiting L’Empereur himself was my highlight.

My opinion on Paris has changed throughout the years. I used to hate it completely. Mostly because of all the reasons I listed in the video. It’s smelly, dirty, and dangerous, but also: overcrowded, overpriced, and the metro system is very complex. That last one is understandable though.

However, in recent years I did manage to re-discover the beauty in Paris again. I wouldn’t want to live there if you paid me for it, but from a visitor’s perspective it’s a must-visit city. At least once in your lifetime.

I still much prefer my beloved Eastern European cities, they’re all much better in my opinion, but Paris is still Paris.
