The multi-spoke alloy wheels and a distinguished graphics is bound to turn heads on the road. The fuel tank is equipped with muscular shrouds to get a good grip on the bike with those knee recesses. The 790mm of saddle height is practically low enough to manage the short riders with ease while the non-split seat is perfect for any frame size.

VEngine & Gearbox
Coming to the engine specifications, the Hero Xtreme 200 R is powered by 200cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, BSIV, 4-Stroke engine that is capable of producing a maximum power of 18.1 Bhp @ 8000 rpm and an utmost torque of 17.1 Nm @ 6500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Wider grab rails, tank extensions and a robust look give justice to the bike’s edgy styling.

Xtreme 200R Top Speed & Mileage
The company has claimed a 0-60kmph time of 4.6 seconds and 112kph of top speed. The fuel efficiency is 39.9kmpl from the official channel, which is pretty good as compared to the others.

Instrument Console
The digital console of the bike is half analog and half digital, giving it a much appreciated contemporary look. The LED tail lights and LED pilot lamps gives the bike a premium look.

Brakes & Suspension
The bike gets 276mm single disc brake at the front and 220mm single disc brake at the rear. Single channel ABS is standard with the variant, perfect for boosting up the stopping power and get an adequate grip. The 37mm telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock suspension at the rear makes the bike comfortable to handle on the road and attain the utmost composure while turning on the edges.

Verdict
The pleasant ergonomics are perfect for commuters and the brand Hero at its heart is enough to get the sales up. Hero Xtreme 200 R’s progressive nature is perfect for inexperienced riders. All the power packed features including the good shift quality and a refined engine have essentially made the Hero Xtreme 200R create a niche for itself.

Hero’s first foray into the 200cc segment is this, the Xtreme 200R. It is Hero Motocorp’s first dip into the premium segment in a while. The Xtreme 200R has a diamond-type chassis, Hero’s first indigenous rear monoshock, and an engine that is based on the Achiever’s 150cc unit.

While the engine doesn’t offer much in the way of additional tech – it is carburetted, doesn’t have an oil cooler, or fuel injection – it promises to offer great fuel efficiency and rideability, thanks to its relatively low power figure of 18.2bhp and torque figure of 17.1Nm. It is one of the smoothest in the business, however, and there isn’t much need to keep changing gears in the five-speed gearbox. The Xtreme is also the lightest in class at 147kg, which should also help in a great fuel efficiency figure. There are disc brakes present both front and rear, with the front getting ABS as standard at the time of launch.
As it turns out, Hero hasn’t sent out a formal mailer just yet, but an update on the company’s website now lists a price option for the Xtreme 200R at the bottom of the page. At the moment, only eight North-eastern states in India are listed and each shows a price of Rs 88,000 (ex-showroom).

This is very competitive pricing and it comes well below the likes of the TVS RTR 200 4V (Rs 1.03 lakh to Rs 1.17 lakh) or the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 (Rs 1.04 lakh to Rs 1.16 lakh). This makes sense, as Hero is clear that it is not aiming to compete directly with the 200cc segment but is instead focusing on the premium 160cc and 180cc machines. For reference, the Bajaj Pulsar
NS 160 costs Rs 85,786, while the new RTR 160 4V variants are priced between Rs 84,248 to Rs 94,248. (All prices ex-showroom, Arunachal Pradesh)

At the moment, we are not sure when Hero plans to start deliveries or whether the Xtreme 200R will be available in other parts of the country simultaneously.
Until then, for a quick recap, the new Xtreme 200R runs an air-cooled, 2-valve single-cylinder engine that makes 18.4hp and 17.1Nm.
