Getting a free ID for Voting is easy even if you do not have the documentation to get a regular Wisconsin ID! Please visit a DMV Customer Service Center to apply. Once you start the application process, the information provided on form MV3012 will be used by the DMV to communicate with state and federal partners in attempt to verify unavailable documentation. DMV will mail you an identification card receipt (valid for the purposes of voting) within five (5) working days. Once verification is received, the ID card will be processed and mailed to your address. If verification is not received, DMV will contact you regarding what additional information may be required to complete an alternate method of verification to obtain a Wisconsin Identification Card. If you already hold an unexpired Wisconsin driver license or identification (ID) card, or if you hold a Wisconsin driver license or identification (ID) card that has expired since the last general election, you have what you need to vote. A Wisconsin driver license or ID card is acceptable photo ID for voting.
