 A NOTORIOUS SNATCHER NABBED BY ALERT PICKET CHECKING STAFF OF PS ASHOK VIHAR.

 SNATCHING CASE SOLVED, WITH THE RECOVERY OF GOLD CHAIN OF THE COMPLAINANT.

 01 COUNTRY MADE ALONGWITH 02 LIVE CARTRIDGES RECOVERED FROM HIS POSSESSION.

 02 STOLEN SCOOTIES & 01 MOBILE PHONE ALSO RECOVERED.

 ACCUSED FOUND TO BE A HABITUAL & ACTIVE CRIMINAL, PREVIOUSLY INVOLVED IN 13 CASES OF SNATCHING, BURGLARY, HOUSE THEFT, ARMS ACT ETC.

 HE RECENTLY CAME OUT OF JAIL ON BAIL AND AGAIN STARTED COMMITTING CRIME TO EARN EASY MONEY SO AS TO FULFILL HIS ADDICTION TO DRUGS/ ALCOHOL.

With the arrest of a notorious snatcher namely, Amit @ Babai S/o Tapan Rai R/o Wazirpur Village, Ashok Vihar, Delhi, Age- 34 Years, alert picket checking staff of PS Ashok Vihar recovered one country made pistol alongwith 02 live cartridges, 01 snatched gold chain, 01 mobile phone & 02 stolen scooties from his possession. He found to be a habitual & active criminal, previously involved in 13 cases of snatching, burglary, house theft, arms act etc.

Brief Facts & Incident Details:-
Staff of PS Ashok Vihar was specifically tasked to nab any suspect during anti-snatching pickets and to verify their identity. Accordingly, the staff initiated sincere efforts by deploying at snatching hotspots in the area and intensive checking of vehicles and suspects was carried out, under the close supervision of Insp. Ajay Negi, SHO/ Ashok Vihar & Dr. Garima Tiwari, ACP/Ashok Vihar and overall supervision of the undersigned.

In this sequence, on intervening night of 12/13.04.2023, HC Sachin, HC Bajrang & Ct. Rajesh of PS Ashok Vihar were deployed at Khojewala Park Picket in Ashok Vihar area which is a possible escape route for snatchers. They saw a suspected person on a scooty. They intercepted the suspect to enquire him, who on seeing police turned back and started running away. Police staff chased him and nabbed him after covering certain distance. He was later identified as Amit @ Babai S/o Tapan Rai R/o Wazirpur Village, Ashok Vihar, Delhi, Age- 34 Years. On his cursory search, one country made pistol alongwith 02 live cartridges & 01 mobile phone were recovered from his possession. On verification of recovered scooty no. DL12SE 7899, it was found stolen vide eFIR No. 10238/23 U/s 379 IPC PS Bharat Nagar.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 266/23 u/s 25/54/59 Arms Act was registered at PS Ashok Vihar and investigation was carried out.

The said accused was arrested accordingly and on verification, accused Amit @ Babai found to be a habitual & active criminal, previously involved in 13 cases of snatching, burglary, house theft, arms act etc. During his sustained interrogation, he disclosed that he was roaming in the area and looking for easy targets to commit crime of snatching or robbery so as to earn easy money and to fulfill his addiction to drugs/ alcohol.

Further, on his instance, one more stolen scooty from the area of PS Ashok Vihar was recovered and one gold chain was recovered which was found snatched in case FIR No. 262/23 U/s 356/379 IPC PS Ashok Vihar.

Further efforts are being made to trace his possible involvement in other cases and to link the recovered mobile phone in concerned cases.

 Amit @ Babai S/o Tapan Rai R/o Wazirpur Village, Ashok Vihar, Delhi, Age- 34 Years. Previous Involvement: 13 cases of snatching, burglary, house theft, arms act etc.

Recovery:-
• 01 country made pistol alongwith 02 live cartridges.
• 02 stolen scooties.
• 01 mobile phone.
• 01 snatched gold chain.

Further investigation of the case is in progress.
