Alchemic Sonic Environment (ASE) is a multi-sensory deep listening experience developed by Sound Artist and Composer Satya Hinduja, working to redefine the transformative power of sound and its potential for human and planetary health.

In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, ASE's journey with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) began when the orchestra’s senior management was invited to delve into the world of Alchemic Sonic Environment. This led to an extraordinary opportunity to conduct a series of online workshops with RPO musicians, which marked the inception of a remarkable collaboration.

ASE developed a curriculum for these workshops rooted in the ASE Method with deep listening at its heart, leading to an immersive experience for all participants. It was an honour to share the ancient Indian sonic practices at the core of this integrative Method with esteemed Western orchestral musicians, and a joy to witness their reactions and responses to these profound techniques.

Through awareness practices and application of the harmonic series, spatial awareness exercises, Indian rhythmic practices, guided visualisation techniques, yoga and movement practises a deeper connection with sound - the common root of the music of all genres - was fostered. This collaborative journey also marked the start of ASE’s research into applications of sound for mental health. If all musicians and all listeners understand this essence of resonance, then the potential is limitless.
