Today I've got another special bird to show you. We are checking out the piper pa25 aka Piper Pawnee. We had to move the plane because it needed to get filled up see i'm sitting right next to the fuel tanks here but guys this is not a plane that you see too often as a matter of fact if you go to most small airports around the country generally you don't even see airplanes like this because planes like this were built for a specific purpose and it also serves a mission here.

I'm at a private strip here as I mentioned earlier and what they use this aircraft for is to tow gliders this ladies and gentlemen is the piper p825 originally built not for towing but for agricultural purposes okay back in the 50s piper came up with this design and it took its very first flight in 1953 and this was built to help feed America basically so if you know anything about farming crop dustin this is the type of planes that you would see on those farms and pilots get paid to basically fly this thing over a farmland and spray up the crop as much as they can now unfortunately that job is likely going to be taken over by drones unmanned drones can do the same thing at a more efficient cost so these may need to retire for farming but guess what you have all the uses for them.

You can probably already tell some of the similarities you've seen with other planes mainly the piper cub actually when i go around this plane i look at the design i think of the piper cub okay so look at this one thing that's unique to this bird also i've never seen this before you see that the struts that's holding the wing is at the top on the cub you usually will find those at the bottom so i thought it was actually pretty cool when you look at it it does kind of look a bit more aggressive and also this plane believe it or not even though it's a one-seater this is considered a high-performance aircraft because the engine is a lycoming 0540 so you've got over 200 horsepower power in this thing now you're not getting a lot of speed for it okay so you're not going anywhere fast in these things again because they serve a specific mission.
