Based in the Northeast US, with performing experience in fifteen states, and five countries, he has been able to perform at some of the best known venues for blues music, has been a staple of the festival season in Clarksdale, MS and for years he held a residency at the famed Terra Blues in NYC – all while continuing his work as a public school teacher, running Blues in Schools programs and workshops.

Recipient of multiple awards as a performer and educator, Short has repeatedly won the Worcester Music Award for "Best Blues/R&B Act" and was voted a finalist for "The Best of Central Mass: Entertainer of the Year". In 2010 he was awarded the Worcester Cultural Commission Artist Fellowship for his work as a performer and educator.
