Often we forget that the peace that we seek in our outer world begins with the peace within ourselves.

As the monks doing the 2,300 Walk for Peace from Texas to Washington, DC are teaching us, it's often as simple as just deciding to be peaceful that day. And of course, the way to to really cultivate the inner feeling of calm and content is to train the mind to let go of the chatter that blocks that peace!

Taking a few moments to pause and to notice the breath is so simple. So why don't we do it more?

Because there is a part of us that doesn't want us to slow down. It comes up with many stories to resist this.

One might be that this resisting part doesn't feel safe pausing and quieting the mind... it worries that if we slow down, we might FEEL something, and if we might not be able to cope with those feelings. But with prayer and Divine light, we can cope. I'm guessing you have a lot more tools to deal with emotions that arise than you did 10 years ago.

The other piece here is that we sometimes get bored when quieting our mind. If you can sit with the boredom for a few breaths, you might find that you get curious. "I wonder what will happen now in my mind? What might this feel like? Maybe there's a loving energy that will come over me..." And then that curiosity can open us to receiving the love that is God, the love that is who we really are. And this is how we heal ourselves and heal the collective...

I have been working on this myself, as you'll hear in this video. I feel I have reached a place of peace more than ever in my life, after moving through deep fears (especially of death). It's true liberation like none other!

Let's go on this walk toward inner peace together...
