Walking Tour: Bjelovar, Croatia - 4K UHD Virtual Travel

Bjelovar is a town in Central Croatia, sitting in an area connecting Zagreb region, Northern Croatia, Slavonia (eastern Pannonian part of Croatia) and Podravina (lowland region along Drava river which defines most of the Croatian - Hungarian border). It is one of the youngest towns in Croatia - officially founded as the military center of the Varaždin Generalate (a province of the Habsburg Military Frontier) in the year 1756, by decree of Habsburg empress Maria Theresa. Its pre-planned design can be seen in the rectangular scheme of streets in the city center with the square-shaped park at its very center. For most of the video we will take a walk around this lovely park (Trg Eugena Kvaternika). Although it would be hard to imagine by its present appearance - in the time of its origin this picturesque park was actually military training grounds with administrative buildings and officers' apartments surrounding the park. Among the many trees in the park today, only two old linden trees can remember the time when Bjelovar was as young and fresh as the soldiers who inhabited it.
