Vincenzo Gambaro’s (1785-1828) history is closely intertwined with that of Giovanni Gambaro. According to active musicologist in the field, Gian Enrico Cortese, the following information is what is most accurate as Vincenzo and his family history is currently being actively researched.

While in Paris, Vincenzo became the first clarinetist of the Royal Italian Theatre, with Friederich Berr (1794 – 1834) serving as his second. During this time, Giovanni began playing on Iwan Müller’s improved version of the clarinet, the 12-key clarinet. Vincenzo also adopted this instrument, and eventually, Berr followed suit. In an interesting turn of events, after a performance by the Royal Italian Theatre of the Barber of Seville, Gambaro and a group of his colleagues went to the Rameau where Rossini was staying and serenaded him at his window. Gambaro and Berr would perform a duet together the next year between sections of Il viaggio a Reims.
