Perception is a show about Dr. Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack) who is a popular but eccentric professor with paranoid schizophrenia. He's a neuroscientist who possesses incredible insight into human behaviour. Dr. Pierce is sometimes recruited by the FBI to help solve complex cases. His FBI contact, Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook) is a former student of his. Donnie Ryan (Scott Wolf) is Kate's ex husband and was introduced in the second season. Max Lewicki (Arjay Smith) is Dr Pierce's teaching assistant and helps him in a wide range of capacities. Natalie Vincent (Kelly Rowan) is a friend of Dr Pierce that only he communicates with. He gets help from his hallucinations to solves cases. At the start and or end of most episodes there is a lecture speech given which is relevant to the case within the episode.
