Описание к видео Polar Bear Capital of the World in Churchill Manitoba | Explore Canada

Avid naturalist Nic Fieldsend travels to Churchill, Manitoba to see polar bears.

Churchill, Manitoba is a small town in Northern Manitoba situated where the boreal forest meets the tundra. It is best known for the number of polar bears that naturally congregate in the fall, which has earned the town the nickname "Polar Bear Capital of the World."

Nic meets with a number of locals in Churchill that take him on adventures along his journey to see the polar bears. Paul Ratson from Nature 1st Tours is a local tour guide who describes Churchill, Manitoba as a place of natural history that dates back thousands of years ago. This can be seen through the landscape as well through artifacts collected in the local museum. Duanne Collins from Parks Canada tells Nic about the earliest indigenous people who lived in the area 4,000 years prior. Celine Midavaine, a guide at Sea North Tours, takes Nic on a boat adventure where they discuss her migration to Churchill, and listen to whales using a hydrophone.

Nic came north seeking something different that he had never experienced before. He certainly enjoyed seeing polar bears for the first time, viewing the Northern Lights, and interacting with the locals on his journey to Churchill, Manitoba.
