Pakistan's Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, has stated that more surprise attacks will be conducted, while the Afghan Taliban government, through spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, has warned of retaliation. The conflict is linked to Pakistan's frustration over its failure to contain the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which it accuses Afghanistan of harbouring. The report also notes that Pakistani military actions have coincided with visits by Afghan ministers to India, including the recent visit of Commerce Minister Nooruddin Azizi, suggesting Pakistan's discomfort with growing India-Afghanistan ties.
