Muvez footwear began as a high school project in 2013. Founder Ryan Cruz was tasked with improving an existing product and came up with the idea of an indoor slipper that could also be worn outside by adding a durable sole. Initially, Ryan and his co-founder Kevin Zamora dropped the idea after a teacher said it wouldn't work. They revived it when they saw a similar product on the market. Eric Cruz joined his brother Ryan and friend Kevin to create Muvez Footwear.
Muvezfeature a knit upper with a lightweight rubber sole and a removable outer sole that snaps into place. This makes it easy to switch from indoor to outdoor use. The removable soles keep dirt out of the house, making these slippers perfect for those who want to avoid tracking dirt indoors.
Muvez was featured on Shark Tank, where the founders asked for $200,000 in exchange for a 15% stake in their business. They struck a deal with Daymond John for $200,000 and a 25% stake. After the episode aired, Muvez saw a huge boost in sales, earning $300,000—three times their sales for all of 2019.
Since appearing on Shark Tank, Muvez has continued to grow, sales have skyrocketed, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. By 2024, Muvez's estimated net worth reached $3 million.
