PETREL Volume Calculation – Principle
Since each cell is triangulated, it is possible to cut the cell exactly, and hence, using exact contacts.
Inputs needed for Volume Calculation:
A 3D grid with zones and segments (if you want to calculate the volumes for each zone and each segment the 3D grid must be divided into zones and segments).
Properties, such as Porosity, N/G, Sw/So/Sg. If properties do not exist, a constant value given by the user will be used.
Constants, such as Bo, Bg, GOR oil, GOR gas.
Contacts (must be created in the Make Contacts process).
Recovery factors (if available).
Boundary, such as a license block, ... If available. (Must exist as polygons. Volume will be cut exactly towards the polygons, and the volumes will be cut vertically along each polygon).
