After 41 years at WXEX/WRIC-TV, Chief Meteorologist John Bernier has officially retired from the station.

John Bernier is from the New England area and graduated from the University of Lowell with a B.S. degree in Meteorology. He became the chief meteorologist when he joined the then WXEX-TV in 1984. Since then, John has been the recipient of multiple awards, including a Special Service Award from NWS for his work done on severe weather and multiple AP awards.

John's leadership has lead the StormTracker8 team to be recognized as Richmond's most accurate forecast by WeatheRate for 8 years in a row.

This was taken during the 6PM newscast, which was anchored by Deanna Allbrittin & Eric Philips. Throughout the newscast, the station played memories and relived moments during John's career. The StormTracker 8 Weather Center was also renamed to The John Bernier Weather Center, which was highlighted during the 4PM newscast. Earlier newscasts will be posted later. Congratulations JB!
