Описание к видео Bengali song "Oliro Kotha Shoone Bokul..." played on harmonica by Kaushik Mukherjee (pl see details)

Genre; Non film (1960)
Sung by Hemant Kumar
Music: Hemant Kumar
Lyrics: Gauri Prasanna Majumdar

This Bengali song is familiar to most Bollywood connoisseurs as being the inspiration for the famous "Na Jao Sainyah Chhudaa ke Bainyah" sung by Geeta Dutt in Sahib Biwi aur Ghulam. However, the two songs have many differences as the versatile composer adapted this to 2 different situations. The Antara portions are substantially different. The original song was penned by the versatile Bengali Lyricist, Gauri Prasanna Majumdar, and first composed and sung by Hemant Kumar in the Calcutta Durga Puja of 1960. It was a tradition in Bengal for established singers to bring out their "Puja compilations." This song was part of Hemant Kumar's puja compilation of 1960 Sharadiya Arghya. In 1962, he used this melody for Geeta Dutt's iconic song of Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam. I like the original Hemant Kumar Version a lot better.
I have attempted a translation of this Bengali version. It goes as follows:

The Bokul (flower) smiles at the Bumble bee's whisper
You don't laugh at my words.
The spring greets and caresses the earth
But you don't ever come close to me.
Clouds float high above,
embracing the sky
I feel not your embrace, even in my dreams
The moonlight floods the night
Why don't you fulfill me in the same way
The bird lovingly calls its partner
to its nest.
You don't ever love me like that.

Played on the Seydel Saxony chromatic harmonica (High D)
