In this episode of OptionSmith, I break down a 0DTE strategy I’ve been actively refining and forward-testing with small size to validate how it performs in real market conditions (fills, slippage, and the psychological side). After 14 trades (one per day), the early results are stronger than expected, and I walk through how I’m thinking about win rate, sample size, and why traders need a plan for inevitable losing streaks.

Direction bias from the first 5-minute opening range (break above/below the initial candle range)

Bearish setup: a call broken-wing butterfly, “finessed” for a 1:1 risk/reward by working limit orders and adjusting strikes as needed

Bullish setup: a put credit spread, also structured around 1:1 risk/reward with patient limit fills

Trade management in the final hour: when I take ~80%+ of max profit to reduce the risk of a late-day reversal
