Television Affair 22 - Local Cable Channels

When a company used to win a franchise from the authority to run a cable company, they usually promised some sort of local channel. This might include extra entertainment such as an exclusive film channel for the area, or some sort of public access TV. This would usually be organised by the cable company for local people to book out equipment and make programmes for the channel

Some of those might be for a social cause like trying to a charity or a drama so send a message to the audience, or it might be a public service or an outlet for creativity. This would be known as community TV.

This video is part 1 of looking at local cable, showcasing some of the companies that had local channels - well, ones that I could find footage of.
