Jean-Léon Gérôme (1824-1904) was a prominent French painter and sculptor, celebrated for his meticulous attention to detail and mastery of color. Born in Vesoul, France, he initially studied under the academic painter Paul Delaroche at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Gérôme became known for his historical and genre paintings, often drawing inspiration from ancient history, mythology, and the exotic cultures of the East.
