Longboards, Friends & Spanish Point

20 years ago when I started 'Spanish Point Surf School' and we organised an awesome annual surfing event called 'The Surfing Blitz'.
The Tourism board backed the event, local business' supported it and for approx 3 years running it was the 'Father Ted' version of Sea Sessions (bundoran).
A local man, Tony, was in charge of the music. He had an interesting & mystical choice of music (strange but kinda fun)! All the best surfers in Co.Clare attended. They were epic events.

When local surfing legend and Aaron & Oisin started their surf schools on the beach, I reckoned it was time to centralise and just focus on Lahinch Surf School. It's been awesome to see Spanish Point develop as a Surfing Hub of it's own over the past 10 years.

I first surfed Spanish Point inside reef with Irish Surfing Legend Hugh O'Brien Moran (multi Irish Surf Champion) back in 1988! Just the two of us came up from Tramore for the day. I was terrified the whole way up, Hugh told me it was going to be overhead! At age 13 it was a full-On experience. It was double overhead and peaking & pitching like a Canary Island reef break. Sunshine and only 3 of us out!
Spanish Point is an awesome place, so it was great with Stu & Brazilian Tony to go search for surf (Winter 2023) and meet Irish longboard champion Tom Breen and (like myself) former Irish Surf Team member Eoin McCarthy Deering & Big wave Ledge Peter Conroy & several other local surfers.

God's Creation (beaches, waves, sand, sun), like all of God's gifts, are to be enjoyed & hopefully shared with friends. It's a privilege to share it with you. Hope you enjoy the Search and the message of Hope in Jesus Christ at the end of the Youtube Video.
