✨🪔 Deepavali Special Menu – Prawn Rendang with Butter Rice & Achar 🦐🍚🥒
Celebrate this festive season with a delicious Malaysian Indian combo that’s perfect for Deepavali! In this video, I’ll show you how to prepare a flavourful Prawn Rendang, buttery fragrant rice, and crunchy tangy Achar — all made from scratch and ideal for your festive table.
This easy festive combo brings together the rich spices of rendang, the aroma of butter rice, and the refreshing taste of homemade achar — making it a complete meal that your family and guests will love.
📌 What’s in this video:
🦐 Prawn Rendang
Note :
🔥 To Roast:
1½ tbsp coriander seeds
1 tbsp fennel seeds
½ tbsp cumin seeds
1½ tbsp black peppercorns
🌀 To Blend:
2 onions
8 cloves garlic
1 inch ginger
1 inch galangal or 1 tbsp galangal paste
1 inch fresh turmeric or 1 tbsp turmeric paste
15–20 bird’s eye chilies 🌶️
5 candlenuts (can replace with cashew nuts or skip)
2 lemongrass stalks
2 coriander roots (optional)
2 Kashmiri red chilies (or replace with dried red chilies — Kashmiri gives a nice red color)
1 cup water
🍚 Butter Rice
Note:
3 cups basmati rice
2 cups lemongrass water
1½ cups water (rinsed from the blender)
1 cup coconut milk
(The liquid ratio may vary depending on the type of basmati rice you use — please follow the packet instructions if different.)
