Row over Gajendra Chauhan as FTII chairman - TOI

Students of renowned Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) have decided to continue their protest against the appointment of BJP member and actor Gajendra Chauhan as the chairman of its governing council, reports PTI. However, in the report Gajendra Chauhan has been quoted saying that he should be given a chance and allowed to work. "Let me work. My only agenda will be the betterment of the FTII," he said. Mr. Chauhan said he wanted to speak to the students and tell them that without knowing his background and capabilities it was not fair to protest his appointment. The report further stated that his name was recommended by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and it must have been done after due diligence. The students have demanded that Mr. Chauhan's appointment be revoked, calling it a political appointment, said the PTI report.
