The Valley of Flowers trek in Uttarakhand, also a national park is one of the most enchanting treks I've experienced. Along with it, the Yatra to the World's Highest Gurudwara, Hemkund Sahib, & World's Highest Lakmana Temple, was an arduous journey but fulfilling.

Starting from Govind Ghat, the trek spans 10-11 kilometres, leading to a stunning high-altitude Himalayan valley, part of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve.

To reach the Valley of Flowers National Park, you first travel to Pulna, 3 kilometres from Govindghat, using shared taxis or personal vehicles.

In Pulna, you'll need to register for the trek, which starts from there.

From Pulna, the trek to Ghangharia covers 10-11 kilometres and is moderately steep in places. Along the way, there are small dhabas where you can stop for breakfast or lunch. The final leg from Ghangharia to the Valley of Flowers is more challenging, with a steep 3-kilometer ascent. The trek offers breathtaking landscapes throughout.

Declared a national park in 1982 and later a UNESCO World Heritage Site, camping is prohibited inside the valley. The best time to visit is between July and September when the wildflowers are in full bloom, creating stunning views, but at that time monsoon in Uttarakhand is at its peak and can be devastating.

To reach Hemkund Sahib and Lokpal Lakshmana Temple, one needs to hike 6km on steep slopes.
