I have been going to Orchard Beach in The Bronx for years and never really thought about these buildings. A little research into the history of the beach provided some interesting information. Orchard Beach was opened in 1936 and had a bathhouse and a thriving pavilion with stores inside of it. Currently, the whole thing is in a state of disrepair, but construction and renovation has already begun and should be completed by 2025. It will be interesting to see the finished project and how New York City decides to restore and improve the landmark site.
