LIVE: SpaceX launches Starship spacecraft in third test flight

SpaceX is aiming to send its Starship mega-rocket around the Earth on Thursday on its most ambitious test flight to date.

Blast-off from the company’s launch site in southeast Texas is planned for 8.10am local time (1310 GMT), SpaceX said on Thursday morning. It is an experimental rocket, which is a key part of Nasa’s plans for landing humans back on the moon and the centrepiece of Elon Musk’s vision for colonising Mars.

Launch will be from SpaceX’s Starbase site in Boca Chica, Texas. “As is the case with all developmental testing, the schedule is dynamic and likely to change,” SpaceX cautioned.
