So, I wrote a song called ‘Renegade’. It’s an original song I wrote on my guitar in the middle of the night when I was feeling like the world could collapse at any moment. Dedicated to a special friend of mine, ‘Renegade’ is a nostalgic song about friendship and hardship, and finding the magic in the most challenging of connections.

I find music to be a perfect way to translate my emotions. Singing and songwriting was the number one thing that kept me sane during the last year and maybe you can relate to some of the lyrics as well. ‘Renegade’ not only talks about friendship, sadness, growth, trauma, adventure and the end of childhood but also about the hope you can find in the beautiful mosaic that is your life. So, if you struggle from time to time or love sad songs that make you cry – this is the song for you!

Now shadows, creeping ‘round

No, they don’t teach you how to love a world as wild as ours
Tie you up and toss you out like a bunch of withered flowers
Come of age you chose to be a renegade

Long you’ll wait for the train to come
Stood by the tracks in the autumn sun
Caught watching as the bonfires turned to ashes
Time goes by, evergreen the broken
Eye to eye when you spread me open
Tell me why the long haul never lasts

Who knows what we’re doing here
When all we know will disappear
And though we parted long ago
You know you’ll always know me
Oh, the seasons have changed so fast
Thought it’d be nice to be the nice girl
Visions that I tried to hide away
And now we come undone
Haunted by the halls we used to roam
Spinning stories out of tainted glass

Far we’ve run with the dawn right after
All alone, or so we thought
I guess I should’ve known from the look on your face
Through the storm and the hellhounds’ howling
Holding on to your heart of gold
It tells you everything will be okay

Rode my cart off the roller coaster
Woke all night and the morning after
I hear your voice in my mind as clear as day
It tells me to be proud to be a renegade
