This is the last HHP-8, AMTK 655, that I ever saw in service. As you can see, it was for the best. The wheels were slipping, the paint was chipped, the motor was having lots of trouble getting moving, and the bell was totally off kilter. Eventually, this was the final Amtrak HHP-8 to be retired on November 7, 2014. 651 was retired shortly before that.
