I have polished aluminum wheels over the years and have looked for the best way and easiest way to get the job done with great results.
I have watched many YouTube videos myself trying to see if someone has the magic bullet to polishing aluminum wheels... I have seen videos showing Coca Cola as a potential polisher, WD-40, and of course off the shelf product like Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish, Blue Magic Metal Polish cream, Zephyr Aluminum polish, hi Lustre Silver bullet polish, steel wool, pro40 polish protector, Mothers chrome polish and Mothers PowerBall 2 and more...
So I decided to create 1 video that goes over ALL the products out there to see which one does the job best AND the fastest... The results will surprise you!

Postscript to this video...
I had purchased the aluminum wheels in the video for $600 before polishing them. The wheels came with the 4 plus a spare wheel which was just a black steel rim, with the same Toyo tire. I sold the spare for 200, which meant I was into the wheels for 400, plus my time. I did sell the 4 wheels, once I decided to keep the OEMs on my FJ80 Landcruiser, and sold them for 1400.
So, keep your eye out for Aluminum wheels that you can refinish! in my follow up Wheel video, I had purchased some aluminum wheels that looked almost the same, for $100 and put some 33" Wildpeak tires I had. They are currently on a FJ40, but will easily sell for about 1000. The tires on them really didn't cost me, since I had removed them from some previous wheels I had on a FJ62, replacing with some 35 Dick Cepek tires.
The main lesson is you can find some great aluminum wheel deals out there, usually because the person lets them go unpolished for years and feels their condition is poor, hence sells for a lower price. Also wheels and tires take up space, so people tend to sell then at lower prices to make room in their garage.
So if you polish them up, you instantly increase their value. Aluminum wheels do not rust, so even if they are in poor condition, they can be aggressively sanded, etched and polished back to a new condition. a simple hobby or side hustle, that can make you some great money... to invest into a cool ride.
