Ade Akinbiyi goals - 2003 - 2004

The Hackney born forward was a popular figure at the Britannia Stadium. After starting his career at Norwich City as an apprentice in 1994 he made some big money moves to the likes of Bristol City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City but failed to make a mark in the top flight. Tony Pulis bought him in, initially on loan, when we were fighting against relegation in 2003. Despite not being fully fit Ade's goals against Wimbledon and Reading helped the club stay up. After some long running transfer negotiations he returned to the club in September 2003 and led our forward line for the next season and a half, winning Player of the Season in 2003/04. Stoke eventually made a profit when he was sold to Burnley for £600,000 in March 2005.
