Red-legged seriema prey-thrashing behavior

Описание к видео Red-legged seriema prey-thrashing behavior

Shot this video on May 1 2019 during our visit to the Columbus Zoo (http://bit.ly/2E1rLTV). Kevin, the red-legged seriema displays the natural downward thrashing behavior they use in the wild to subdue prey...similar to the sagittal striking behavior we inferred for their extinct "terror bird" cousins: http://bit.ly/2ViMhK8. It's probably fair to regard use of a killing stone as an anvil against which prey are repeatedly thrashed as tool use. Could terror birds also have been tool users?
