Klarna ($KLAR) is reviving its US IPO, targeting a $1.27 billion raise with an implied $14 billion valuation, less than six months after prior plans were paused amid market volatility. The Swedish fintech, once Europe's most valuable private tech company, saw its valuation slide from a peak of $46 billion in 2021 to $6.7 billion a year later, but is now aiming for an estimated $14 billion in this new attempt.

The company recently reported strong performance in Q2 2025, with $823 million in revenue (up 20% LfL) and $29 million in adjusted operating profit, marking its fifth consecutive quarter of operational profitability. Klarna boasts 111 million active consumers (up 31% YoY) and 790,000 merchants (up 34% YoY), with its Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) increasing 19% like-for-like to $31.2 billion. The US market showed particularly strong GMV growth, up 37% year-over-year.

Klarna's strategy includes leveraging AI for efficiency, with an AI assistant handling 62% of customer service chats and contributing to $39 million in cost savings in 2024. Despite a recent $47.5 million fine from the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (SFSA) for AML/CFT compliance issues, Klarna is expanding its offerings, including the Klarna Card, which grew 42% year-over-year and is in trial with 5 million US consumers. Klarna is set to list its ordinary shares on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the symbol “KLAR”.
