Helllooo everybody and come along for the ride as I take on the task of rebuilding the Colorado Rockies here on MLB The Show 24.

In this episode, we embark on our Year 3 Spring Training. After solidifying the roster over the offseason with acquisitions such as Luis Robert Jr. and Aaron Civale, along with a reloaded bullpen, the Rockies enter 2026 with expectations of a playoff push. Last year Colorado missed the postseason by one game and now enters Year 3 with more cohesion as the foundation of the roster stayed intact.

We'll start the Spring in the opener with Ryan Rolison taking the bump as we'll go down the lineup once and get some hitting reps in as Michael Toglia leads the way. We'll continue with the same format a few games later showcasing our lineup against lefties as we enjoy more success this go around. After the Rockies posted two runs in the first inning, Luis Robert Jr. would add another in the third inning with a solo home run--his first of two long balls on the day in what turned out to be a run rampage for the Rockies. We'll jump into a save situation with phenom closer prospect Ken Hughes as he tries to establish himself as "the guy".

After a lot of action in the early phase of Spring Training, we'll pick up the simming before jumping into Aaron Civale's debut start as he comes over to Colorado after signing a three-year deal this past offseason. Civale doesn't have his best day on the mound, although he picks up his play down the stretch as he looks to earn the #2 spot in the rotation behind Max Fried.

Overall, it was an extremely successful Spring Training for the Rockies as they finished with the most wins of any team which included a ten-game winning streak. The newly acquired Luis Robert led the Cactus League with 10 home runs while many others in the lineup produced at a high level. The pitching staff was very impressive in their own right as every arm in the bullpen was effective and Kyle Freeland paved the way for the rotation along with no runs in over 20 innings pitched.

When it was time to trim the roster down to the 26-man Opening Day roster, many tough decisions were made. Youngsters such as Benny Montgomery and Michael Toglia were very good at the plate, but would it be enough to pass up someone like Jo Adell or Sterlin Thompson on the active roster? With the success of our pitching staff, guys like Ryan Feltner and Justin Lawrence, who entered this year on the bubble, made a strong case and the final spot came down to those two right-handed arms.

Come along for the ride as we piece together the Opening Day roster for Year 3 and enjoy the gameplay along the way as we have playoffs on our mind for the 2026 season and it all starts in Spring Training!

In the next episode, we'll kick off Year 3 on Opening Day hosting the division rival Arizona Diamondbacks. All-Star Max Fried will start his second Opening Day for the Rockies as he's opposed by Brandon Pfaadt. Colorado looks to supplant the Diamondbacks for NL West prominence although each team enters the season extremely close in terms of season projections. Cody Bellinger will make his D-backs debut now playing in his home state after signing a one-year, $26.7 million deal. Top prospect Druw Jones will also start on his first career Opening Day.
