Working with Accelerating Fragrance Oils in Soap - Recipe and Tips for Cold Process Soap

Описание к видео Working with Accelerating Fragrance Oils in Soap - Recipe and Tips for Cold Process Soap

There are so many fragrance oils I love that accelerate my soap batter. One of them that I'm soaping with today is a dupe of Amazing Grace. It's called Amazing Style by Crafters Choice/Wholesale Supplies Plus.

I'll give you some tips that I use to be able to work with these fragrances more in your cold process soaps.

The first and most important tip is to make sure you're getting your fragrance oils or essential oils from a reputable supplier. I'll list some of them below. Your suppliers should have IFRA usage rates for Cold Process soap as well as (Bonus) Cold Process Soap testing notes. These notes will/should tell you if your fragrance is suitable for CP soap as well as any ricing, discoloration or acceleration they may cause. You'll want to plan your soap design around these notes.

These tips will work with MANY Fragrances that accelerate but not all.

***Test batching: I recommend doing a test batch if you're using a new recipe, fragrance oil, or special additives. You don't want to ruin a large batch if things don't go as planned! This is my test batch size. You can adjust yours to suit your needs.

Recipe:
Lard 75%
Coconut Oil 20%
Castor Oil 5%

SF: 5%

I soaped this batch at 80 degrees F with a 1.7:1 Water Discount
I also used goat milk for 1/3 of my water. You do not need to use a milk.

Sodium Lactate can also accelerate your batter. Skip this step if your FO is very accelerating.

After pouring, I did put this loaf in the fridge to keep from getting overheated due to the milk content.

*****IMPORTANT: Please run this recipe through a soap calculator for your batch size. This will give you your water/lye ratio once you input your desired ratio and batch size. You can also adjust your hard to soft oil ratio to meet your preferences. ***

Additives:
Tussah Silk added to lye water and dissolved with lye
Sodium Lactate to cooled Lye Water - I used 4 tsp for my 2300g batch

Fragrance:
Amazing Style from Wholesale Supplies Plus/Crafters Choice (Moderate Accelerating Notes)

Colors:
Yellow Kaolin Clay (MICA is in this clay), French Pink Clay, Blue Kaolin Clay (MICA is in this clay)

Fragrance Oil Suppliers I Use:
Bramble Berry
Nurture Soap
Nature's Garden
Wholesale Supplies Plus
Wellington Fragrance
Midwest Fragrance Co.
Makesy (Sometimes - better suited to M&P or HP)
Perfumers Apprentice
SIMBI
There are many more, but these are my go-to.

Colors: I generally only use Mad Micas but there are plenty of good suppliers. Don't use Micas from Amazon. Almost all of them are made for resin and not cosmetic or soap use.
