Tongass Riding Skirt

The riding skirt is amazing. I didn’t even use the leg straps and it didn’t move much. We hit 34mph several times and did crazy stuff. At 34 mph, it does ripple and flap behind me a bit, but nothing bad at all. At trots and stuff, it doesn’t really move. When the skirt is billowed out on his rump, it stays put for the most part. The fleece underside grips his butt. We went through a lot of tight brush and branches just slid off the skirt easily. It’s a polyester outer shell that is slippery. Wind protection is excellent. We did all our usual crazy stuff and I didn’t find any issues at all. I got size M and it’s too big for me (so I look a little frumpy), but I just use a leather belt. When I’m mucking and stuff, I cinch it up higher on my waist. I can also lower it down to get more coverage.

It's basically a multi-use piece of clothing. Probably one of the most versatile and useful pieces of clothing I own. It's a windbreaker, rain coat, cloak, rump rug, skirt, blanket, emergency shelter…the list goes on.

Function/Pros:
1. Another layer for your legs - what else can offer such protection/warmth while being fully functional?
Rain protection - keep dry
Wind protection - keep warm 
2. It's an easy layer to take off and put on. 
Take off/put on while mounted
Take off/put on while being fully clothed in your regular riding gear. I used to wear large pants over my breeches to stay warm, but that meant I couldn't put on my boots and such until after I took off the warm outer pants. This skirt totally solves that problem
3. Extra warmth even when not riding
Around the barn doing chores
Around the camp
No more need to carry a blanket around for my legs
4. Acts like a Quarter Sheet or Rump Rug for your horse as well. 
Aids in the horse warming up 
Gather it up off the horse's rump if you don't want to use it as such. 
It's amazing for keeping the horse from getting chilled on chilly days when you're doing quick little runs, then a lot of standing around; gymkhana, ranch sorting
5. Protects your saddle, saddle bags, all the gear in your saddle bags from rain as well.
6. Protects show breeches from dirt.
7. It traps the horse's body heat under it and creates a pillow of warm air that keeps you and your horse comfy.
8. Is not adversely affected by extreme riding. Stays on very well.
9. Very comfortable and Looks pretty as well.
10. Doesn't need to be an exact fit. I am wearing a size Medium and it's too large for me, but I use a belt. You can't really tell it's too large for me unless if you get close.
Cons:
It's "loud". It does go "swish, swish, swish" when I walk. Not so much when I ride. This is easy to get used to and forget about.
