Lake Naltar is a high mountain emerald green lake at an elevation of 3.228m (10,590ft) above sea level, located in the Gilgit District of Gilgit–Baltistan territory of Pakistan. Nestled among snow-topped peaks and towering forests, Naltar Valley provides a beautiful setting for the road to the lake. Jeep Rent is about Rs.10,000 to Rs.12,000 depends on season and your bargaining.
It’s road condition is unpaved and subject to flooding. It’s a long, treacherous, and hair-raising drive of 2 to 2.5 hours one way. The route is a little bumpy and dangerous. A 4x4 vehicle is required to reach the Naltar Valley and Lakes. The road runs parallel to the Naltar River throughout the destination. The river and the road are both equally frightening. Starting from Nomal, the road to the lake is 29.4 km (18.3 miles) long. It’s called Naltar Valley Road.
Always check the weather forecast before you start your tour to Naltar Lakes. Surrounded by dense pine forests, in winter, it is almost impossible to reach the lake through any vehicle due to the snow (10 to 15 feet high) on the road.
