The Turkish Consul General of Los Angeles Raife Gulru Gezer delivered speech at the Carson City Council on Wednesday, March 4, 2015.

Consul General Gezer spoked in favor of the proposed monument of the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, in Los Angeles's International Sculpture Park in Carson.

Gezer, mentioned Atatürk's world-embracing vision and told the attendees about his personality that had served as an example to scores of world leaders.

I am here today to declare the support of the Republic of Turkey for the Ataturk Monument Project and to explain the importance of this project for the Turks all around the world," said Raife Gulru Gezer, Consul General of Turkey in Los Angeles.

The proposed monument was rejected by the Carson City Council, under pressure from the Armenian diaspora.
