Located between Hunstanton and Cromer, Wells-Next-The-Sea is a place famous for it's beach and it's charming town centre full of great shops and cafes. We take a look around to see why this holiday destination is so popular.

Wells-next-the-Sea is a delightful seaside town on the North Norfolk coast, perfect for a relaxing holiday or a fun-filled day trip. Its most notable feature is its stunning beach, which is about a mile from the town center and is known for its wide expanses of golden sand, colorful stilted beach huts, and the backdrop of Corsican pine woods. The town itself is centered around a busy quay where you can find children enjoying a traditional game of crabbing (locally known as "gillying") and a variety of shops and eateries.

Beyond the beach, there's plenty to explore. A walk along the raised bank from the quay to the beach provides picturesque views of the salt marshes and the harbor. For a more leisurely journey, a seasonal miniature railway or an electric bus service can transport you between the town and the beach. History buffs might enjoy visiting the Wells Maltings, an arts and heritage center, or admiring the elegant Georgian architecture found in the town's leafy squares. The area is also a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making it a paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers, especially at the nearby Holkham National Nature Reserve.

A visit to Wells-next-the-Sea can easily be combined with exploring nearby attractions. Just a short walk or drive away is the magnificent Holkham Hall, a grand stately home with a vast deer park and a range of activities like cycle hire and a high ropes course. From the nearby quay at Morston, you can take a boat trip to see the large colony of grey seals at Blakeney Point. For a unique experience, hop on the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway, a charming narrow-gauge steam train that takes you on a scenic journey through the countryside to the historic village of Walsingham.
