In this Frontiers Forum Deep Dive session on 17 November, Prof Masanori Aikawa, Prof Joseph Loscalzo, Dr Chiara Giannarelli, and Prof Jean-Luc Balligand explored their Frontiers in Science lead article Precision cardiovascular medicine: shifting the innovation paradigm.’

They discussed how a comprehensive, integrative systems approach—using omics technologies, big data, and AI—could transform cardiovascular disease treatment worldwide.

The session brought together the article’s authors and expert panel members Prof Hugo Ten Cate from Maastricht University and Prof Amam Mbakwem from the University of Lagos, also vice president of the World Heart Federation. The panel examined strategies to engage policymakers in securing the funding, resources, and regulatory frameworks needed to ensure that scientific advances benefit everyone—including those in low- and middle-income countries.
