Outdoor School at Canyonview is all about 5th graders getting out of the classroom and learning about our world through hands on science classes. For many children this is their first experience going on a hike, fishing in a lake, cooking over a campfire, shooting a bow and arrow and more. They learn lessons centered around next generation science standards learning about soil, water, plants, animals and natural sciences unique to our community.

Canyonview’s outdoor school offers a variety of classes like Nature Science, Outdoor Cooking, Team Building, Angling Science, Macro Invertebrates, Horse Science, Candle Making, Escape Room, Rocket Science and more. A variety of camp specific fun activities are available as well such as large group games, open gym and game room, zipline, giant swing and more.

Our hope is that our staff will build quality mentoring relationships with students and present our natural world in such a way that the students don’t even know they’re learning. We hope that all students walk away not only with increased knowledge about nature science but a new found love for the environment we live in.
