Parliament House in Darwin has been the seat of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly since 1994. Parliament House is located on State Square in the centre of Darwin, which is also the administrative centre of the Northern Territory law and government. It features Postmodern features and was designed by Architect Tim Rogers, of Meldrum Burrows and Partners Pty Ltd.

The Northern Territory Library is housed in Parliament House. Construction of Parliament House began in 1990, and the building was completed in 1994, and officially opened by the Governor-General of Australia, Bill Hayden on 18 August 1994. Before Parliament House the former Northern Territory Legislative Council established in 1948 was housed in various temporary buildings around Darwin. After 1974, the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly continued to operate on the same basis, and settled in buildings on the current location until 1990 when they were demolished to allow commencement of the construction of Parliament House. From 1990 to the end of 1994, the Assembly temporarily met in the Chan Building. It is Australia's newest parliament building.

Two workers were killed during the construction of Parliament House when a crane collapsed in March 1991.

In 2023 the building was awarded the Northern Territory Enduring Architecture Award by the Northern Territory Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects. The award recognises longevity and civic contribution of the building to Darwin and the Territory.

Government House is the office and official residence of the Administrator of the Northern Territory in Darwin, Australia. Built between 1870 and 1871, with later renovations between 1878 and 1879, the building is set on 13,000 square metres of hillside gardens in the centre of the Darwin business district, on The Esplanade.

The former Darwin Courthouse sits on the traditional lands of the Larrakia people of the Larrakia Nation.

Darwin Courthouse and Police Station (former) 1884, Darwin, NT

The historic Darwin Courthouse with adjacent Police Station was constructed of limestone in 1884. Originally the Courthouse was designed by John G Knight, Architect and erected in 1884 as the first courthouse, cell block and police station in the Northern Territory: the Courthouse Plaque. No longer in use as a courthouse or police station the stone buildings are now used for administration purposes.

Damage from Cyclone Tracy

On Christmas Day 1974 a severe tropical cyclone – Cyclone Tracy hit Darwin. The Cyclone caused widespread damage and loss of life destroying most of Darwin. The Courthouse did not escape. The Courthouse buildings required extensive restoration work.
