Australians want nature laws that actually protect this continent’s incredible ecosystems and unique wildlife.

Recently in Burwood NSW, 40 community members came together to share why protecting nature matters to them. Local MP Sally Sitou was invited but was unable to attend. But the message from her community is clear: the federal government must urgently take action to stop deforestation and end extinctions.

After the event, the community groups wrote Sally a letter highlighting how her constituents care deeply about our environment, and imploring her to sign our pledge to prioritise nature. In just over an hour, Sally responded with the pledge signed.

The event was organised by the Cooks River Wilderness Society group with support from Climate Action Burwood Canada Bay, Burwood Croydon Uniting Church, and WIRES Inner West. There were also representatives from many local groups—a powerful show of community support for nature and wildlife. 🌏💚
