A popular Charlotte spot has been selected as one of the best food halls in the country.

Optimist Hall made USAToday's 10 Best list in the food halls category. The list was voted on by editors and readers of USAToday and was released on Wednesday.

The Uptown-adjacent food hall was ranked No. 8 on the list. The publication championed Optimist Hall's food options, dining spaces, and breweries.

Optimist Hall was built in 1892 and was originally a textile mill. The items made at the mill changed over the years, and its purpose as a manufacturing site existed until 2015. In 2016, a new ownership group bought the 146,000 square foot site with the goal of transforming it into something different. leading to its current use as a food hall.
