Here‘s how you might be manufacturing an ACL tear.

Ankle Sprain that‘s wasn‘t rehabbed properly:
Studies show that individuals with a history of ankle sprains could be more likely to tear their ACL. This makes total sense, since the ankle/foot is key for proprioception and movement mechanics, as well as already absorbing forces (that if not absorber well enough, leave the knee with more load to deal with).

Way Stronger Quads than Hamstrings:
The hamstrings are highly involved in deceleration especially when it comes to keeping the knee joint in place. Having them relatively weak not only compared to your quads but in general, will have a key part of what supports the back of your knee not working as efficiently as it could be!

Only focusing on acceleration:
This is probably one of the main reasons we see this epidemic of ACL tears today. Imagine powering up a car engine but not building the brakes to slow down all the new force it‘s now producing. It‘s gonna end in a crash! Same thing goes for your training! If you‘re just getting better at producing force because you want to be faster and more explosive, without building the capacity to slow that force down, in a healthy and safe way, you‘re manufacturing major knee injuries like a non-contact ACL tear. Because over half of them occur while decelerating…

Not being connective tissue doninant:
Muscle alone is not going to help you absorb 5-10x your bodyweight when cutting, decelerating and landing. What allows your body to do that, are the connective tissues, tendons, fascia! A child has some of the most protected joints because it‘s connective tissue dominant! And we know we can reclaim that child like ability, by training like a @bulletproof_ballers 🫡
