A trip to Bhutan is incomplete without a visit to the most iconic monastery in the world, Taktsang Monastery most commonly known as Tiger’s Nest Monastery. The driver picked us up at 730am and took about 40-50 mins to the trail head.

The hike up from the trail head (carpark) is 5km with 800m elevation to about 3200m. Took about an hour 5 mins to reach the cafeteria for tea break and another 1h10 mins to reach the monastery. Unlike other monasteries, no handphones nor cameras are allowed inside the monastery.

This quiet spot was used as a meditation cave in the 8th century and later as a monastery in the 17th century.
