"Kee-hee-hee! You've made it this far, but this is the end of the line!"
―Splash Warfly aka Pursuer from the Blue Sea.
Splash Warfly, known in Japan as Splash Uofly (スプラッシュ・ウオフライ Supurasshu Uofurai), is a flying fish based Reploid and one of the Mavericks in Mega Man X7, being a member of the Red Alert vigilante syndicate.
Characteristics:
Despite being based on a flying fish, Splash Warfly possessed a humanoid frame and considerable height. He had wing-like fins on either side of his head that he could detach and combine to form a double-sided glaive. His eyes were normally drawn in a relaxed sneer and his mouth was covered by a snout similar to a diver's regulator. He possessed a tank on his back, which contained the water used to fire his Splash Laser.
Splash Warfly had an arrogant and hateful personality. He was quite clever, using the destruction of his own battleship to his advantage by using the ruins as a perfect battle arena. He looked down on older Reploids such as X and claimed that it is the nature of Reploids to cause destruction. He had a very contentious working relationship with Axl, and claimed he hated him from the moment they met (a sentiment Axl shared). Warfly was further furious at Axl for helping the Maverick Hunters, deeming him a traitor.
History:
Splash Warfly was a bounty hunter who was one of the main fighters in the vigilante group Red Alert. During his time as a vigilante, Splash Warfly had gained possession of an large, abandoned submarine battleship and used it to imprison some Mavericks that he captured. Eventually, the Professor came into contact with Red Alert and used DNA data to greatly enhance the strength of its members, Warfly included. However, this also made him subservient to the will of the Professor.
After Red Alert decided to challenge the Hunters to a Maverick-terminating contest, Warfly's battleship came in handy and he was able to use his captured Mavericks at the battleship to keep the Hunters busy. Warfly terrorized the seas with his battleship. The deadly Mavericks he unleashed included the Fighter Aircraft and the Dragon Blaster. In the end, his Mavericks were not enough to stop the Hunters and were defeated, and his battleship destroyed. Warfly ultimately challenged the Hunters himself as a last stand, but he too was terminated by them in battle and met his end at the sea that he had spent his life using to his advantage.
Sub-Boss:
Dragon Blaster (ドラゴンブラスター Doragon Burasutā) is a sea dragon-like enemy Mechaniloid from Mega Man X7. There are several in Flame Hyenard's Lava Factory stage and three appear together as a mid-boss in Splash Warfly's Battleship stage. However, it is unnecessary (but recommended, as several rescuable Reploids are being guarded) to destroy any of the ones encountered in Hyenard's stage.
Last Sub-Boss:
Humanoid Bridge (人型艦橋 Hitogata Kankyou) is the last mid-boss of Splash Warfly's Battleship stage in Mega Man X7.
Stage:
"A menacing fortress that commands the seas. Destroy it to halt its advance!" ―Stage description, Mega Man X7.
Battleship (バトルシップ Batorushippu) is Splash Warfly's stage in Mega Man X7. It is a fleet of battleships occupying the North Pacific Ocean.
Description:
The beginning of the stage starts off on a battleship. In it, the player has to destroy three sub-bosses (Dragon Blaster, Fighter Aircraft and Humanoid Bridge) before fighting Splash Warfly. After defeating the Fighter Aircraft, the player will be transported to the next part of the stage, where the ship is on fire. After defeating the Dragon Blaster, the player will move to another part of the Battleship, again on fire. After defeating the Humanoid Bridge, the player will proceed to a shipwrecked Battleship area, where upon reaching the end of it, the fight with Splash Warfly will take place, with four large pieces of floating debris as the setting.
