This Common Pheasant close up happened at a local nature reserve at a bird feeder. This pheasant was eating seed spilled by the birds above and was tame enough to allow me to video it from inches away with my mobile phone. Common Pheasant (sometimes known as Ring-necked Pheasant) originates from Asia but it has been widely introduced to much of Europe and North America. Pheasants are often overlooked because of their abundance and introduced status but the irridescent plumage is incredible in the sunlight. To get some interesting shots of this Common Pheasant I used my mobile phone as a bird table, placing it on the ground and sprinkling some seed around the lens to obtain footage of the bird pecking at the camera. This birding video also contains narration providing a number of pheasant facts about these birds in Britain and hear the pheasant call.
